Review:

First, let it be known that I absolutely love the 1st Starship Troopers - Directed by Paul Verhoeven (who also directed Robocop & Total Recall) in 1997 - that movie was based upon the Novel written by Robert A. Heinlein (which was a great read as well)

A couple of years later (1999 I believe) a CGI/Animated Series, called Roughnecks, was created - chronicling the war against the Bugs. I thought that Roughnecks was pretty cool!

Then came Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation, in 2004, which received a lot of flack from "the fans" I thought that the movie was decent (definitely not as bad as everyone claimed at the time) It was a Sequel "in name only" - there is no need to see Part 2, before seeing Part 3, as Part 3 is a closer sequel to Part 1, than Part 2 was [get all that?] :-)

It's A Good Day To Die!

Now, we have been given Starship Troopers 3: Marauder which is actually "Presented By" Paul Verhoeven (why didn't he just direct it himself, I wonder - has he even directed anything since Hollow Man?!?) I often find that when a Director "Presents" another movie - that movie generally winds up being mediocre, at best! Such is the case with the third installment of SST. Ed Neumeier did a fine job directing, I guess that I would just like to see Verhoeven step back into the director's chair.. . . The movie obviously had a lower budget (generally what you get when straight-to-DVD) The CGI Effects were not very good - they seemed on par with something that you would see on the Sci-Fi Channel, and the movie had a somewhat hokey ending. . . I need to stop here, because it sounds like I am trashing the movie, when really, I'm not! The movie was good, it just had some "issues" :-) Let me leave you with some cool photos of shots from the movie:

The best scenes were on the beaches of the Alien Planet OM-1

The Marauder's Suits were Awesome!!

So, if you are a Fan of the Starship Troopers Universe, check this movie out and leave me a comment with your thoughts, once you have watched it!
